Keeping it Green

We're passionate about spending time outdoors, no matter the season – hiking, kayaking, bike riding, swimming, and simply enjoying nature. When we're on vacation, we practice eco-friendliness, so we believe it's just as important to bring that mindset into our work lives. When organizing and decluttering, we make sure to keep it green. We also try and teach others the importance of sustainability and how they can help.

Embrace Small Living to Reduce Waste and Overconsumption

Small living is often associated with getting rid of everything, but what if we simply bought less in the first place? Consider having just enough reusable water bottles or the right amount of food in the pantry to avoid waste. Living with less means less waste, less food waste as goods won't go bad before use, and less plastic waste as we have fewer packages to dispose of.

When decluttering or downsizing, we aim to donate or re-home as much as possible. When discarding items, we can separate them for recycling. Here are some areas where you can make a difference:

  • Scrap metal recycling: Find drop boxes around the area or contact the Lions Club in your local area, as they may collect items and use funds for community events.

  • Textile recycling: Ask certain donation centres or contact a rag distributor to find out where to recycle textiles. Some clothing companies in larger cities also have recycling programs.

  • Plastics and glass: Many local regions offer recycling programs for these materials.

  • Scrap wood: Can be sent to an outdoor fireplace to heat someone's home.

  • Old sheets and textiles in our local area can also be donated to the local farms and animal rehabilitation centres.

We partner with outreach workers and local charities to donate gently used housewares and furnishings to those in need.
